About the speakers
dr. Thomas Herget
Thomas Herget earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Habilitation in Medicine. He joined Merck in 2004 with the mission to lead global R&D teams on identifying and validating new business opportunities in Life Science and Healthcare arena.
Amongst many outstanding achievements, Thomas and his teams delivered impact by creating visions, exploring technologies for feasibility, and transferring successfully to business sectors projects like ‘Bioelectronics’, a novel modality to treat chronic diseases, ‘PROTACs’ to generate unique therapeutic antibody-drug conjugates and ‘Cultivated Meat’, customized and highly effective cell culture media. His teams received several recognitions incl “R&D 100” Awards and Thomas was given the MERCK Research Award in 2015 for fighting Ebola. He serves on various boards, teaches at TU Darmstadt, and has published over 70 papers and 25 patents.
dr. Isabel Verniers
Isabel has co-designed and led several award-winning innovation and upskilling processes across a diverse set of industries in companies such as Atlas Copco, Michelin or Dechra. Besides her consulting and mentoring work, Isabel is affiliated with the University of Ghent (her alma mater) in the area of marketing, innovation, and organization. Isabel has been a speaker and chair at several international conferences on the topic of change and innovation management.
