Sumitomo – Two prestigious German Awards in 2022 and 2023
The history of Sumitomo Drive Technologies, a global leader in power transmission products, gearboxes, gear motors, and related services, dates back to 1888. They provide innovative solutions and quality products to their customer to help them solve complex challenges that they are facing.
MTI² has worked together with the team in Germany that developed – and was the first country to launch – their newest actuator (a machine component responsible for movement and control of a system or a mechanism). We worked on the launch of the TUAKA product family, a new and highly innovative product both to the world and to Sumitomo Drive Technologies.
Sumitomo’s innovative work and the successful launch of the TUAKA product line has been awarded in 2022. They were the winner of the prestigious Hannover Messe (HMI) Hermes Award, which is also referred to as the “Oscar of the industry”. Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Germany’s Minister of Education and Research, presented the prize at the Hannover Messe opening ceremony in the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The Hannover Messe is one of the world’s largest trade fairs, dedicated to the topic of industry development.
In 2023, TUAKA by Sumitomo Cycle Drive Germany has received yet another award at the German Innovation Award. They have been recognized for their robotics work in the development of the actuator. The “Special Mention” award is granted to innovations with original approaches, well-thought-out aspects or savvy detailed solutions.
