Value Proposition

The Value Proposition (page 165 in the book) is a structured outline that identifies customer pain points, and highlights the gains the innovation offers for the customer. 

How to fill it out?

Often, the value proposition template is a PowerPoint deck with 1 slide per topic; other presentation formats can also work well. For filling in a value proposition you would need a diverse team with sufficient experience and seniority.

What is the benefit?

Further refining your project in this value proposition has several benefits, including:

  1. One can easily adjust this template for innovation types other than product innovation
  2. Encourage collaboration and buy-in from cross-functional stakeholders
  3. Ensure the innovation is not just technologically exciting, but meaningful and desirable to real users
